A VPX CPU board is a rugged plug-in computer board that provides the main processing capability in a VPX chassis.
It typically contains:
A processor, such as Intel, AMD, Arm, or Power Architecture, RAM, Flash or SSD storage, Ethernet and PCI Express interfaces, Management and monitoring circuitry, Front-panel ports for USB, serial, display, or networking, VPX backplane connections for communicating with FPGA, GPU, storage, and I/O boards
VPX CPU boards are often designed for demanding environments and may support:
Conduction or air cooling, Extended temperatures, High shock and vibration resistance, Redundant operation, Real-time operating systems, Safety- or mission-critical applications
Common uses include radar, avionics, electronic warfare, military vehicles, industrial control, and high-performance embedded computing.
