Quad ADC 12-bit @ 1.6 GSPS FMC+ Module

An ADC/DAC FMC module is an FPGA Mezzanine Card that adds high-speed analog input and/or analog output channels to an FPGA carrier board.

  • ADC means analog-to-digital converter. It converts real-world analog signals into digital samples the FPGA can process.
  • DAC means digital-to-analog converter. It converts digital data from the FPGA into an analog waveform.

The module usually includes:

  • One or more ADC or DAC channels
  • Analog front-end circuitry
  • Clock and synchronization inputs
  • Trigger connections
  • FMC or FMC+ connector
  • Sometimes JESD204B or JESD204C high-speed serial interfaces
  • Front-panel RF connectors such as SMA

Description:

FMC254 is an FPGA Mezzanine Card (FMC+) per VITA 57.4 specification. The board has quad TI ADC12SJ1600 which provides 12-bit resolution at 1.6 GSPS. This ADC is ideal for light detection and ranging (LiDAR) systems. The full-power input bandwidth also enables direct RF sampling of L-band and S-band.

FMC254 provides four single ADC to allow interleaving among the four ADC. This is accomplished by skewing the sampling clock property among the four ADC.

The four analog input, clock and trigger interfaces of FMC254 are routed via SSMC connectors. The internal clock frequency is programmable and the clock is capable of locking to an external reference.
